The three-day Montreux Jazz Festival China opened at SANGHA Retreat by OCTAVE in SIP’s Yangchenghu Peninsula Tourist Resort on Oct 24, infusing new vitality into the SIP Golden Autumn ? Three Lakes Carnival that is going on around the Jinji, Yangcheng and Dushu lakes.
Created in 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the oldest and most influential music events in the world. As part of the program, the Montreux Jazz Festival China started to be headquartered in SIP last year.
With the core vision of transcending borders and blending genres, this year’s festival boasts a stellar eight-act international lineup. Highlights include a special four-hand piano duet between Grammy Award-winning keyboardist-composer-producer Jeff Lorber and Chinese electronic jazz pioneer Yang Ce, the debut of Lisbon’s Marta Pereira da Costa with her Portuguese guitar in China, and the amazing performance by NaraBara, a band apt at blending jazz with the mystical storytelling and atmospheric qualities of Mongolian folk music.
In addition to captivating performances, the special collaboration with the Healing Arts Festival and the creative market won the event a large flow of participants as soon as it opened.
