The 14th China Art Festival kicked off in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China’s Sichuan province, on Oct 16. As a highlight of the event, the National Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition opened at Chongqing Art Museum concurrently. Among the exhibits is one from SIP, a calligraphy work by Qian Yuqing, a Suzhou-native calligrapher.
Qian serves as the chairman of SIP Calligraphers Association and vice chairman of SIP Federation of Literary and Art Circles. He is renowned for his extraordinary attainments in traditional Chinese calligraphy.

Qian wrote an ancient poem in cursive script (a kind of rapid handwriting in which strokes are cursively connected) for the exhibition, exploring the unique artistry of cursive script’s linear quality and seeking an artistic expression of his inner spirit.
